Email Agent

Interact with Brightwave from your inbox — send documents, request research, and manage projects via email.

The Brightwave Email Agent lets you interact with Brightwave directly from your email. Send it documents, request research, and manage projects — all without opening the app.

What you can do:

  • Send documents to create a new research project
  • Add files to an existing project by name
  • Request research reports and deep dives on any topic
  • Ask follow-up questions and get responses via email

Getting started

Step 1: Enable the Email Agent

Navigate to Settings → Email Agent and click Enable Email Agent. You'll need to review and accept the terms before enabling.

Step 2: Your agent email address

Once enabled, you'll see your unique agent email address (e.g. [email protected]). Copy this address — you'll send emails here to interact with the agent.

Step 3: Approved sender

For security, emails sent from your registered Brightwave email address are processed automatically. If someone else sends an email to your agent address (e.g., a colleague or banker forwards something directly), you'll receive a notification email with the original message and a Review This Email button. From there you can approve or reject it — approved emails are processed as if you sent them yourself.

Changing your address

You can customize your agent email address, but it can only be changed once every 7 days.

Usage examples

Screen a CIM

When a banker sends over a new deal, forward the CIM straight to your agent:

To: [email protected] Subject: Acme Healthcare Services CIM

Just got this CIM from Jefferies. Create a project and give me a summary of the business model, last 3 years of revenue, EBITDA, and margins. Flag any customer concentration risks.

[CIM PDF attached]

The agent will:

  1. Create a new project (e.g. "Acme Healthcare Services CIM Review")
  2. Add the CIM to it
  3. Kick off the analysis with specialized research agents
  4. Email you back with a link to the project and report

Analyze earnings transcripts

To: [email protected] Subject: Q3 Earnings — Portfolio Comps

Attached are the latest earnings transcripts for UnitedHealth, HCA, and Amedisys. Build a report comparing what management said about margin outlook, volume trends, and M&A appetite across all three.

[3 PDF attachments]

The agent will:

  1. Create a project
  2. Add the transcripts
  3. Run a comparative analysis across all three companies
  4. Email you back with links to the project and report

Research an industry for deal sourcing

No attachments needed — just tell the agent what you're looking for:

To: [email protected] Subject: Home Health Market Landscape

We're evaluating a platform acquisition in home health. Put together a deep dive on the market — size, growth drivers, regulatory tailwinds, key players, and recent M&A activity with deal multiples if available.

The agent will create a project, start a research conversation using web sources, and email you a link to follow the progress.

Add documents to an existing project

As new materials come in during diligence, forward them to an existing project:

To: [email protected] Subject: More docs for Acme Healthcare

Add these to my Acme Healthcare project — it's the quality of earnings report and the management presentation from the bank.

[2 PDF attachments]

The agent will find the matching project by name and add the documents to it. If it's not sure which project you mean, it'll ask you to clarify.

Ask a follow-up question

Reply to an existing email thread with the agent:

Can you pull out the revenue bridge from the QoE and compare it to the CIM projections?

The agent responds in the same email thread, using the documents already in your project.

Tips for best results

  • Be specific about what you need — "Summarize the business model and pull out EBITDA margins" works better than "look at this CIM"
  • Mention the project name when adding documents to an existing project to avoid follow-up questions
  • Forward emails directly — got a CIM from a banker or a deck from a portfolio company? Forward it straight to the agent
  • Attach files directly — the agent can process PDFs, Word docs, Excel files, ZIP archives, and other common formats. ZIP files are automatically extracted and each contained file is processed individually
  • You can request any kind of research — reports, deep dives, comparisons, summaries, industry landscapes
  • The agent will ask if it's unsure — if your request is ambiguous, it'll email you back with options to choose from

How it works

When you send an email:

  1. The agent reads your message and any attachments
  2. It determines what you need (new project, add to existing, research request, etc.)
  3. It takes action — creating projects, adding documents, or delegating research to specialized agents
  4. It emails you back confirming what it did, with links to your projects and reports

The agent is a coordinator — it delegates research and analysis to specialized Brightwave agents rather than doing it itself. This means you get the same quality research you'd get using the Brightwave app directly.

Limitations

  • Only emails from your registered email are processed automatically — emails from other senders require your approval via a notification email
  • The agent cannot access your existing project documents — it can only work with what you send it or create new research
  • Email responses may take a moment to arrive depending on the complexity of the request
  • Forwarded emails work — you can forward any email with attachments to the agent
