June 22, 2026

  • Email alerts for scheduled task problems — you're now emailed by default when a scheduled task fails or is automatically paused, so high-signal issues don't slip by. Manage these per event type in Settings > Notifications, in Scheduled Tasks.

  • Clipboard access on the desktop — the desktop app can now read from and write to your system clipboard when it helps with a task, so you can hand Brightwave something you've copied or have it place a result where you can paste it, in Desktop App.

  • Cleaner earnings transcripts — earnings call transcripts now display as labeled speaker turns, with operator remarks set apart, making them far easier to read. Citations still highlight the exact passage within each turn, in Documents & Sources.

  • Set your permission mode before you start — pick Ask or Auto from the composer on the project home page, and it applies to the new project. You can still switch anytime inside a conversation, in Desktop App.

  • Permission modes (Ask / Auto) — choose how local desktop actions are approved: Ask shows an approval card before each action, while Auto runs routine actions automatically and still pauses for consequential ones. Review and revoke "always allow" grants in desktop settings, in Desktop App.
  • Computer use (research preview, macOS) — the desktop app can now view and interact with apps on your screen to help complete a task, with a persistent in-control indicator and a one-click Stop, in Desktop App.

  • Local folder access — connect folders from your computer to a project in the desktop app and grant read, import, or write access. Agents can analyze local files, import them as sources, or save outputs back to your machine — confined to the folders you pick and revocable anytime, in Desktop App.

  • Salesforce connected app (research preview) — Salesforce is now available as an OAuth connected app. Connect your account through a secure in-chat card and agents can access your CRM records and files during research, in Connected Apps.

  • Box connected app (research preview) — Box is now available as an OAuth connected app. Connect your Box account through a secure in-chat card and agents can access your files during research, in Connected Apps.

  • Connected Apps OAuth (research preview) — agents can now set up OAuth connections directly in chat. Supported services include Microsoft 365 and Dropbox, with more coming. Authorize through a secure in-chat card and the agent handles the rest, in Connected Apps.
  • Shared connected apps — share API-key connected apps across your organization so team members can enable them in their own projects without accessing the credentials, in Connected Apps.
  • Keyboard shortcuts — press ⌘/ (Ctrl+/) to discover all available shortcuts. New shortcuts include ⌘N for creating projects and chats, ⌘B for toggling the sidebar, and context-aware scoping, in Chat.
  • Desktop menu bar — keep Brightwave running in the macOS menu bar or Windows system tray for quick access without a visible window, in Desktop App.
  • Agent-managed connected apps — agents can now create, enable, share, and disconnect connected apps on your behalf through secure in-chat prompts, in Connected Apps. OAuth-based management is part of the research preview.

  • Document insertion in Office add-in — agents can now insert Brightwave-generated spreadsheets, Word documents, and presentations directly into your active Office files, in Microsoft Add-in.
  • In-place approvals across add-ins — approve plans, skills, and shares directly from the Office, Google Workspace, and browser extension sidebars.

  • More Office add-in tools — Word gains footnotes, bookmarks, track changes, and template support. Excel adds data validation and duplicate removal. PowerPoint adds shape grouping, slide backgrounds, and layout assignments, in Microsoft Add-in.
  • Google Workspace add-on parity — Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides now support the same expanded tool set as the Microsoft Add-in, in Google Workspace Add-on.

  • Office add-in tool approvals — the agent now asks for your confirmation before making edits in Excel, Word, or PowerPoint. Allow once or always-allow per action type, in Microsoft Add-in.
  • Expanded Office add-in capabilities — Word gains image insertion, headers/footers, page numbering, and table of contents. PowerPoint adds speaker notes, text search, and selected-shape detection. Excel can now update existing charts.
  • Gemini 3.5 Flash — available in the model picker, in Chat.

  • Desktop notifications — the desktop app now delivers native OS notifications for Brightwave events, even when the app is in the background, in Desktop App.
  • Reference images for image generation — provide a document from your data room as a visual reference when generating images, in Agents & Outputs.
  • Mobile push notifications — receive push notifications on iOS and Android when resources are shared with you. Manage per-type toggles in Settings → Notifications.
  • Markdown in thought blocks — agent reasoning steps now render rich markdown formatting.

  • Microsoft Add-in — Brightwave is now available as a Microsoft 365 add-in for Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Chat with Brightwave inside Office and let agents read and edit your documents directly, in Microsoft Add-in.
  • Added AI image generation — agents can now generate diagrams, visual summaries, and illustrations on demand and save them to your project's data room, in Agents & Outputs.
  • Added a Downloads menu to the user menu for quick access to the desktop app, Microsoft Add-in, and mobile apps.

  • Added per-conversation reasoning effort control — choose how much the AI reasons before responding, from Minimal to X-high, or leave it on Auto. Higher reasoning improves accuracy on complex analysis at the cost of speed, in Chat.
  • Help agent is now available to all users — click the help button in the sidebar to chat with Brightwave’s built-in guidance agent for questions about the platform.

  • Spreadsheet outputs are now editable — edit cells, adjust formatting, and rotate text directly in the spreadsheet viewer. Changes are saved automatically and tracked through version history, in Agents & Outputs.
  • Added GPT-5.5 to the model picker with updated model provider icons and labels, in Chat.

  • Text and Markdown outputs are now editable — edit text and markdown documents directly in the viewer without exporting, in Agents & Outputs.
  • The spreadsheet viewer now shows a keyboard shortcuts bar listing all available shortcuts, including redo, sheet tab switching, fill down/right, and autofit columns, in Agents & Outputs.

  • Added per-conversation model override — choose a specific AI model for any conversation from the composer toolbar, or leave it on Auto to let Brightwave pick the best model for each task, in Chat.

  • Added audio file uploads with automatic transcription — upload MP3, MP4, M4A, WAV, or WEBM files and Brightwave transcribes them for search, analysis, and citations, in Documents & Sources.
  • Any file type can now be uploaded — text-based files (.py, .yaml, .log, etc.) are indexed for search and citations; binary files (.parquet, .zip, etc.) are available to agents via code execution, in Documents & Sources.
  • Added Ctrl+[ keyboard shortcut in the spreadsheet viewer to jump to a formula’s precedent cell, matching Excel behavior.

  • Added external access controls for connected apps — choose whether agents can access only your connected APIs or also browse the web, per project, in Connected Apps.
  • Memories now recall automatically — agents search your saved memories for relevant context during conversations, in Memories.
